Gay Twitter Police

This evening I had a bit of a spat with what turned out to be a PCSO tweeting from the Manchester Police Gay Account. It’s Manchester Gay Pride this weekend. I don’t agree with these events. I disagree even more with uniformed services taking part.

I tweeted that the Police should ‘police’ the event but not parade in the parade or livery up cars in rainbows. I also said that all uniformed public services should be banned from taking part in uniform. They can take part in a civilian capacity.

Their one tweet reply to me implied that anyone who disagrees with the uniformed Police taking part in political marches such as gay pride would be ‘followed up.’ This alarmed me. They have since claimed that it was part of a longer tweet.. split into two parts.I’ve not yet found part number two.

The reply implied they would ‘follow up’ anyone who disagreed with the Police taking part in Pride. But, my point was would they ‘follow up’ those targeting people with a view and opinion like mine. That uniformed public services shouldn’t take part in these events…I’m still waiting on that one..

I firmly believe that everybody should be able to be themselves, in their own space. I believe that while being ‘themselves’ they should not encroach into other people’s space.

Nor should they put their private life in the public to domain, and then complain when people make comment on it. Which happens.

I am also a firm believer that you should not take your personal/private life into the workplace and demand it be accommodated. It’s work.

I will end on that I believe all uniform services (Police, Fire, Ambulance, NHS etc) paid for by all members of the public should not be biased to the support and take part in marches and or events of one very small sector of society in their strive to silence differing views and opinions of them, what they do or believe in.

I have obtained the Collar number of the person who was tweeting at the time and I shall be following this  up with Greater Manchester Police tomorrow as to why they feel their unformed public servants should take part in political parades, and would they ‘follow up’ those who target me for saying they shouldn’t. I’ll let you know.

Update:

I have lodged a formal complaint with Greater Manchester Police, and Greater Manchester Police and Crime Commissioner along with contacting the Home Office and Justice Minister.

The in-depth complaint was made under The Police Reform Act 2002 and fell into several parts, it included: Highlighting I believe they as a public service are not operating with impartiality, that they are misusing powers and they are acting in a manner that does discredit confidence in them with the public by them not being impartial.

Further update: I have been advised that the PCSO who sent the tweets was warned about their conduct.

Note: Before you start calling me ridiculous phrases like ‘Bigot’ or ‘Homophobe’ – I am a gay man. And no I do not have ‘internalised homophobia’. I am a realist. I have different views from the majority of the gay community who do not approve that I do not follow their narrative or share their outlook.

Matt

Hi I’m Matt, I tweet far too much, take far too many photos, I speak as I find, which means you properly wont like me, which doesn't bother me in the slightest.
